Remembering Nasrat Parsa

Time is like a fast train.  At every station passengers board and un-board the high-speed vessel, the same way newborns board a new life, embarking on a new journey, while simultaneously our elders un-board the train of time making room for the newcomers.  Wouldn’t it be nice that time worked in such a way? That as an elder ends their journey, a newborn boards ready to begin this pilgrimage called life? But time is unpredictable and does not distinguish between who is old and who is young; time takes who it wants when it wants.

Death, the dark and merciless beast is in a constant battle with Life, the light and merciful angel.  When the malicious beast chooses to cheat the angel of its valuable gift, its soul, it does so cruelly and mercilessly.

As humans, we should prepare ourselves in advance to un-board at the station for which we are destined, because no one really knows when the final stop will be; the final stop at which the train will empty and never fill again.

He did not want to disembark so early; he was expecting to begin a much longer journey on the train of time.  In his vase of art, he planted the seeds of his lyrics and melodies in hopes that the fruits of his labor would provide sustenance on his journey.

Alas, the merciless pull of the tyrant Death’s hand made him victim to a premature and short-lived expedition, as Death instantly threw him off board with one cowardly blow to the face.  How malicious and cowardly it was of you Death, to so quickly end his holy journey of art?

Listen here you beast! Do not consider this to be an opportunity for you to boast about how you have robbed us of his body! Did you not know that a true artist never dies?

You may have covered his body with the coldest and blackest dirt, the kind of black that only resembles your own appearance and grimness.  But did you not know that his voice, music, and soul are eternal in the hearts of his fans and loved ones?  The beauty of his art will never die.

You may have caused his mother, brothers, sisters, and loved ones to forever sit on the fire of sorrow but do not be fooled Death!  They have united and refuse to allow you to extinguish his memory.  In their hands they hold the power of his love and his creativity and stand strong and resilient to fight the sorrow you have inflicted upon them.  Their eternal love for him fuels their triumphant fight, a fight in which you do not stand a chance.

Yes, Nasrat Parsa was a true artist of his people and his country.  He shared his talent with his people genuinely and honestly, allowing his fans to open up their hearts to his music and his love.  Nasrat Parsa is a martyr; when his life was taken from him prematurely, his people’s love for his music was proven.  Our fellow countrymen and women expressed overwhelming support, generosity, and love during our darkest and most difficult days.  The Parsa family will never forget the copious amount of support and abundance of sentiment they received during this time.  For this they are forever grateful.

Nasrat Parsa’s mother, on behalf of the entire Parsa family and all relatives of the Parsa family, would like to extend her deepest gratitude and appreciation to her fellow Afghan countrymen and women, television networks, radios, newspapers, magazines, artists, everyone who has expressed support for the Parsa family, and all those who have helped to keep Nasrat’s memory alive.

Since Nasrat’s death in 2005, true fans of his music have embraced his art and expressed their love of his music in many forms, one such form being music videos.  The Parsa family would like to thank all those who have partaken in keeping Nasrat’s memory alive in this way.  They ask that in the future, Nasrat’s fans formally send any music videos pertaining to the late singer to his official website or official Facebook page, both of which are controlled directly by the Parsa family.  We consider this to be a bridge connecting his family to his fans.  Credit will be fairly given to the creator of said music videos along with tremendous appreciation for their efforts.
